I have been the lighting designer for 47 dance presentations--and dozens of individual dance pieces, starting as an undergraduate at Allegheny College. I had no formal training in lighting for dance, and created a system of taking blocking notes that made sense to me. I have refined it and used it since the mid-1980s. Since 2008, I have been supporting the Saint Michael's College student Dance Team's spring showcase. More recently, I have supported several local dance companies and studios by hosting and lighting their performances at Saint Michael's College.
