Here is a little more information about who I am and how I came to this point in my career.

My vocation as a theatre artist began to evolve when I was a senior in high school. I got hooked on the hands-on fabrication and story-telling aspects of the work. Then I discovered that I could exchange the competitive sport requirement for collaborating with a different team of people in the theatre, and I was sold. I exercised my interest in creating by learning on the job to build and paint scenery, how to sew a little, then how to hang and focus lighting instruments. I worked on the fringes of a couple of shows before diving into the deep end of the pool designing scenery and running the light board for the spring senior musical Two Gentlemen of Verona by John Guare and Mel Shapiro. I've been working steadily ever since, averaging a show every five weeks or so. At Allegheny College I secured a work/study position as a carpenter in the Playshop Theatre scene shop and another in the Campus Center Auditorium as a general technician. During my junior year, I spent a semester working in the costume shop to develop a little more skill with a sewing machine. After that year I took a summer stock job at the Black Hills Playhouse. Over the next six years at the BHP, I deliberately explored several positions in an effort to expand my skill-set including Technical Director, Props Master, Stage Manager and Master Carpenter.  As a graduate student at Syracuse, I had an assistantship in the prop shop for three years and taught the props segment of the required Stagecrafts class. Upon graduation I launched my professional career and began free-lance design work.
