Nothing is the End of the World
(except for the end of the world)

by Bekah Brunstetter

With a good number of first-year student support, this play, set in a NYC high school combined the idea of reality TV, artificial intelligence and typical teenage stress that the cast could relate to. We had a little fun with the program, setting it up like a yearbook.

We had some additional fun inviting four faculty members to play the (mostly) disembodied voice of the director--there was a cameo in the last scene. Faculty represented included the Vice President for Academic Affairs, and the Departments of Biology, Philosophy and Theatre.

I also provided the announcement voice for the preshow speech and the introduction of each scene--played as school loud-speaker announcements from "the office."
